Robert Noyce
- Owned one of the most important and world changing technology company in the
world. He went to Grinnell College and Massachusetts Institute of Technology
for higher education and was a father to 4 Children. Robert was born on December
12, 1927 and died at the age of 62 on the June 3rd 1990.
Grinnell
College – Robert Noyce attended Grinnell College where he wasn’t your generic
nerd, yet created the world’s most innovative piece of technology. At college
he was popular and was in the swimming team.
Charles Duke
– Charles Duke was a professor of Noyce’s at Grinnell and went on to become a
colleague of Noyce.
Transistor –
The transistor is used to amplify and switch electronic power or signals. It
was a revolutionary component and helped create the path for cheaper and
smaller electronic devices such as, computers and calculators.
William
Shockley – William Shockley was the co-creator of the transistor and was
awarded a Noble Prize for physics in 1956.
Fairchild – Fairchild
pioneered the manufacturing of the transistor and integrated circuit board.
Intel - Collaborative
and innovative company. Created the microprocessor. To this day still create the
fastest and advanced microprocessors.
1971 – The first
commercially available microprocessor was created and designed for a Japanese
calculator.
Jack kilby –
Had the idea for the integrated circuit.
Robert Noyce
and Integrated Circuit – Created the first one that was viable to build.
Lowered the price of the integrated circuit. Transistors on a chip doubled
every year, and would do for the next decade.
Silicon Valley
– Home of America’s microelectronics industry
Integrated
circuit – invented in California, makes electronic components smaller.
Steve jobs –
Co founder of apple computers. Looked up to noyce.
